Effect of Liming Fertilization on Changes of Nutrient Concentrations in Rice - hull Based Media , Crop Growth and Nutrient Uptake of Chrysanthemum

Abstract
This research was conducted to determine the effect of domestic dolomite (DD) and calcium carbonate (CC) incorporated as liming fertilizers on changes of medium pH and nutrient concentrations in composted rice-hull (CRH)+perlite (75:25, v/v) media. Nutrient uptake and growth of Dendranthema grandiflorum ¢¥Monlo¢¥ were also determined. Application of 1.5 g CC to one liter of root media resulted in the highest crop growth among other treatments fertilized with CC. Application of 3.0 g¡¤L^(-1) DD also showed good crop growth. Incorporation of CC or DD in CRH based media resulted in decreased P©üO_5, K, Fe, Mn, and Zn and increased Ca content in plant tissues. However, the treatments of CC had less Mg content in plant tissues than those of DD in CRH based media. The treatment with no liming fertilization in CRH based media had a soil solution pH of 6.24 and increased application rate of CC or DD resulted in the rise of pH. As application rate of liming fertilizers became higher, the concentration of ammoniacal nitrogen and phosphorus in soil solution decreased, while electrical conductivity, calcium and magenesium concentrations increased.
